Barellan Good Old Days Festival

If ‘Australia’ was an event, this would be it.

Over 5 days, nearly 10,000 people and an estimated 1,400 caravans, will descend on Barellan this October long weekend for the county’s most unique heritage festivals.

Think camel racing, whip cracking, bush breakfasts and camp ovens under the stars. There’ll be bullock trains hauling traditional wool waggons, billy boiling competitions, blade shearing demonstrations, live entertainment and enough Akubras to block out the sun.

This year’s festival will also attempt two major records, including the greatest number of camels ever harnessed to an Australian-built wool waggon - because apparently Barellan believes in doing things properly.

Part history lesson, part outback fever dream, the Good Old Days Festival is a full-blown celebration of Australia’s bush heritage, where campfire dinners, dusty boots and old-school country hospitality are all part of the experience.

With camping, glamping and multi-day passes available, this is one October Long Weekend you’ll want to settle in for.
